Sambar Masala Powder
You’ll never go back to store-bought sambar masala powder after you give this a try! You can make it in bulk and store it in an airtight container for ease.
Sambar Masala Powder
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 tbsp coriander seeds
- 1 1/4 tbsp toor dal (split pigeon peas)
- 3/4 tbsp channa dal (split chickpeas)
- 3/4 tbsp urad dal (split black matpe bean)
- 4-5 nos dried whole red chilies
- 1 tsp whole black pepper
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp asafoetida powder
- 1 sprig fresh curry leaves 5-6 leaves
Instructions
- Dry roast each ingredients seperatly on low to medium heat stirring and tossing frequently until they are aromatic.
- Grind them into a powder when they are cool. I use a coffee grinder and it works great.
- You can make a large batch and store it in an airtight container.
